Bicycle Unit
Burlington Township Police Department’s Bicycle Patrol Unit is used to supplement traditional patrol functions and enhance police-community relations. Bicycles have more personal contact with the public and can reach areas inaccessible to other vehicles which increases the police presence and response capabilities in some locations, such as, at sporting events. There are 14 officers assigned to the unit.
Important Notice:
Effective March 1, 2006, New Jersey bicycle helmet law changed to raise the age at which a helmet must be worn from 14 to 17. An approved helmet will be required when cycling, roller skating, in-line skating, or skateboarding.
For more information on the Bicycle Unit or the law regarding bicycle helmets, please e-mail Sgt. David Brintzinghoffer at dbrintz47@burltwppd.com.
