DARE
The Burlington Township Police Department has instituted the DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) Program for the Students in Kindergarten, First, Fourth and Fifth Grades. The program is a collaborative effort by law enforcement officers, educators, students, parents and the community to prevent or reduce drug abuse, violence and gang involvement among today’s youth.
The program is administered by Officer Kathrine Cacia in Bernice Young and Fountain Woods schools. It emphasizes good decision making skills and positive alternatives to using drugs. It helps students to understand the physical, emotional, social, legal risks and effects of alcohol, tobacco, marijuana and inhalants.
