EMT Unit
Our mission, as first responders, is to provide quality medical care prior to the arrival of the emergency squad and paramedics. The police officers assigned to this unit are cross trained as emergency medical technicians. They undergo 110 hours of training as well as additional training in a hospital setting. They are also required to attend 48 hours of training in a three year period to maintain their certifications. The vehicles driven by the EMT unit members are equipped with oxygen, advanced first aid equipment, and automatic external defibrillators.
When a call is made for the emergency squad, the police/EMT unit is automatically dispatched.
To assist emergency personnel please have the patient’s medical history available including all medications they are currently taking.
If you have any questions about our EMT Unit, please contact Sgt. David Brintzinghoffer the unit commander at dbrintz47@burltwppd.com or 609-239-5889.
