Fire Investigations Unit

Burlington Township Police Department maintains a Fire Investigations Unit assigned to assist the Burlington Township Fire Marshall’s office in investigating the origin and cause of fires within Burlington Township.  Each officer has received training in cause and origin including the Department of Criminal Justice 90-hour Fire Investigators Course, Pennsylvania Association Arson Investigators annual seminar, New Jersey Association of Arson Investigators 80-hour course, Fire Findings Laboratories Small Appliance and Furnace Investigation, and other classes as appropriate.

Important Reminder:
Always evacuate a residence that is on fire first, then call 9-1-1 from a neighbor’s house.  Have an evacuation plan, review it and test it with your family so everyone gets out safely and can be accounted for.
