Sgt. Kevin Shoppas

Sgt. Shoppas has been a member of the Burlington Township Police Department since August of 1988.  He graduated from Burlington County College with a degree in Computer Science. He started with the patrol division where he served as a patrol officer from April, 1989 to April 2000. In 2000, Sgt. Shoppas was promoted to the rank of Sergeant where he was assigned to a Patrol Division as a shift supervisor.  In July of 2003 Sergeant Shoppas was appointed Administrative Sergeant as the Accreditation Unit Supervisor and Relief Sergeant.

In his twenty-one years of service, he has been a member of the Burlington Township Traffic Safety Unit, Fire Investigations Unit, and Emergency Management Unit.   He was one of four original members of the department’s Emergency Medical Unit, an Adopt-A-Cop, an explorer advisor, and an Instructor for the Burlington County Police Academy.  In 1999 when the department was completing the initial accreditation process, he was assigned to the Accreditation Unit. He assisted with the department’s successful effort to become one of five federally accredited agencies in the state of New Jersey. 

Sgt. Shoppas assists with the preparation of all department policies and procedures and oversees the Accreditation Unit. His duties also include filling in for shift supervisors as they take leave, computer maintenance and installation, emergency management software installation and maintenance of the in-car video systems.

Sgt Shoppas is still a member of the traffic safety unit and the supervisor of the Fire Investigations Unit.  He is currently pursuing accreditation in the field of accident reconstruction
