Officer Profile - Sgt. James Sullivan

Sgt. James Sullivan began his career as a police officer in April of 2002. After graduating #1 in his class from the Burlington County Police Academy, Sgt. J. Sullivan served as a patrol officer until his promotion in January of 2009. During his tenure as a patrol officer, Sgt. J. Sullivan served as a Field Training Officer, EMT, Traffic Officer, Bicycle Patrol Officer, Adopt-A-Cop, and CEASE Gang Trainer. He served multiple assignments with the Street Crimes Unit, and he was also detached to the Burlington County Narcotics Task Force for several months. Currently, Sgt. J. Sullivan is the supervisor for Patrol Squad # 4, and he also supervises the department’s Honor Guard Unit. He is a Police Training Commission certified instructor in the areas of Physical Fitness, Radar, and general patrol instruction, and he often provides instruction both at the Burlington County Police Academy and within the department in those areas.
Prior to becoming a Burlington Township Police Officer, Sgt. J. Sullivan grew up in the community. He graduated from the Burlington Township High School and later attended Rutgers University-New Brunswick where he received a Bachelors Degree in Administration of Justice.
