Special Police Officers

The Special Officer Unit currently has fourteen members, consisting of four Class II Officers and ten Class I Officers. Special Officers receive training in Motor Vehicle Law, Baton, Use of Force and Fingerprinting. Class II Officers receive additional training which includes firearms training.

The mission of our Special Officer Unit is to augment the Patrol Division. They handle a variety of assignments including police service calls, traffic posts, court security and the majority of the special events that occur in Burlington Township.

The Burlington Township Police Department is currently looking for Class I officers and is accepting applications. Applicants must be Burlington Township residents who are high school graduates or equivalent. Energy, enthusiasm and a willingness to give back to the community are some of the qualities we look for in our Special Officers. Many Special Officers have gone on to full-time positions within our organization.

Anyone interested in becoming a Special Officer should contact Sgt. Kozub, the
unit commander at dkozub53@burltwppd.com or 609-239-4486.
