8/14/2020 - BTPD Investigating Fatal Pedestrian MVC Mount Holly Rd. and Garnet Dr.

BURLINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ
– At approximately 5:47 AM on Friday, August 14, 2020, the Burlington Township Police Department responded to the area of Mount Holly Road and Garnet Drive for a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.

Upon arrival, officers discovered that a 48-year-old male was crossing the northbound lanes of Mount Holly Road when he was struck by a 2014 red Nissan van that was travelling northbound on Mounty Holly Road.  As a result of the collision, the male sustained traumatic injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene.  The male’s identity is being withheld pending notification of kin.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the male remained on scene and cooperated with investigating officers.

This collision is still under investigation by members of the Burlington Township Police Department Traffic Safety Unit and the Burlington Township Police Department Investigations Bureau.  No charges have been issued at this time, and investigators believe that foggy conditions and poor visibility contributed to the collision.

The Burlington Township Police Department requests that person with information pertinent to this investigation contact either Traffic Safety Unit Officer Kochis at (609) 386-2019 or mkochis101@burltwppd.com or Investigations Bureau Detective Cosmo at (609) 239-4486 or scosmo99@burltwppd.com.
